April 19, 2018

So, you thought just because it was April 19th when the average high temperature is 68 that today would've been a great absolutely wonderful day to play your first round with this august organization - wrong of course. Little did you realize that this is actually the 98th of January and it can be darn cold and miserable on this day - right? Live with it!

In spite of the lousy conditions, temperature wise, we had 115 brave souls come to swing away on tax day plus two. Congrats to all who showed up and to those who didn't, you were some kind of wise. Actually, the only things affected on this day were probably our normally long drives that were shrunken by the cold balls (the round dimpled ones guys), the wind, and the 9 layers of clothes that some of us squeezed into to give the impression that we were actually warm beneath our shaking exteriors. For sure the wind didn't help but personally it was just the slightest murmur compared to what we witnessed yesterday as some of this group attempted to play at Wolf Hollow - now there was a wind.

Anyway, again thanks to all who showed up, you are some kind of dedicated golfers and you can inform your better halves that in spite of your minor case of frost bite you had the times of your lives playing this game that you love. If there was one drawback to the day it was the tiny delay at the end of the day when unfortunately Randy had issues with his laptop when it refused to keep track of all the data he so diligently enters into it (score per hole per team). We are not sure what happened but the computer at times would belch a bit, lose some data, do some silent farting and lose some more data, until finally Randy and his accountants moved to a quieter environment only to realize that we had to re-enter a few entire scorecards not just once more but at least 3 times! The computer is one of those new fancy ones that lets you move the cursor via touching the screen and whether that affected the loss of data we're not sure. Perhaps Randy is losing his touch - let's hope not. I think suicide is preferable to the job he's doing.

Enough of the small talk, here are the results of the day; oh yah, the playoff hole (SCP) was #8, one of those dead downhill par 3s.
