Somehow we picked a darn near perfect day to play. Darn near except for the near zero wind that decided to kick up just as we teed off. 108 of us found our way to Whitmoor and got off on time thanks to most folks arriving early enough to make check in a very smooth operation. And at least the wind was not a factor during the registration process ensuring the money changers didn't have to go chasing after errant bills. That's always the chance we take at Whitmoor since we're relegated to the outside pavilion for our operations.

And did I mention the wind? Our first two holes were in a valley, well protected from the sun, but not the $%^&*ing wind. In short order I had to pull out my trusty rain suit and don the upper half just to keep the sub-arctic blast from ruining the day. It wasn't until at least the first nine were completed that I felt comfortable taking that off and playing with a short sleeved shirt and a sleeveless jacket. The sun helped but the wind still bit pretty good. I wonder if the South course would've been any warmer?

This course was in great shape. The greens were wonderful with nary a ball mark on them and no signs of recent aeration/sanding efforts. I've played recently, like just yesterday, on a course that is in the process of recovering from the early spring aeration and sanding and putting on those greens vs. Whitmoors is like night and day. I'm glad they either held off on that function, or it was done some time ago.
