Someone really goofed up. The weather was absolutely gorgeous on this day. There was even a breezed to cool us off in case it got a bit warm - which it did not. 96 of us managed to locate the course in time to tee off at the appointed time of 0800. But, we still do have some that tend to arrive just in the nick of time to make it to that initial tee box. Please keep in mind that the folks running this organization need time to sort their own issues out before teeing off. It's greatly appreciated if everyone could be checked in before 0730 at the latest. If you know you're going to be late please call one of the committee members, or at least the course to let us know of your possible tardy arrival.

As mentioned before, the weather was great and the course responded in kind. The only issue was the cart path only restriction put on us, but even then we finished up in our normal 4 1/2 - 5+ hour time frame. Not bad for our group.

The course was in dandy shape. The fairways were excellent allowing for the ball to set up just enough for rank amateurs to handle, in spite of the all too prevalent mishits that do come along occasionally. The greens were quite fast and did display quite a few ball marks but yet seemed to cooperate for some of those 4 foot knee knockers that come in to play quite often. So, all in all, the course was very receptive to our style of play (whatever that is) and all seemed to enjoy the day. For the past few weeks it's been a matter of humidity survival for us but today turned the corner for that discomfort - let's hope.

And now for a very interesting tidbit; This little story is accredited to one Bob Pahmeier, quite a good player in his own right as I'm sure those of you who've played with him already know. It seems several years ago Bob took advantage of a special order of some kind along with which came a gift of some personalized golf balls with his name emblazoned on them. Now Bob has played this same golf course (Golf Club of Wentzville) fairly often and just possibly has used those personalized balls on this course on occasion. But, and this is important, he's NEVER hit one of those special balls in the lake on #10. Well, ironically, one day when he was playing here one of the groundskeepers approached him with one of those balls and said he'd found it in the lake on #10!! So, some player, whom we will never know, found one of Bob's balls somewhere either on this course, or another course Bob has played, and inadvertently hit that ball into that lake. Talk about a coincidence! Naturally, the groundskeeper gave Bob the errant ball. Does that mean what goes around comes around??

And with that, we'll get to the results which in some cases are decided by the good old Score Card Playoff scheme based on the playoff hole dictated by the computer which randomly picks the magic hole for the playoff to begin. BTW the hole for the day was #17 - which we birdied thanks to one and the same Bob Pahmeier and his wonderful approach shot and smooth putt (also aided by Joe Goines' 937 yard drive).

Results: BTW the hole for the day was #17 with 96 players

Flight "A"

Shooting a striking 58(-13)

In First was the team Dee Ridenhour, Ken Knarr, Jerry Mullen, and Norbert Loebs team. According to Ron Muse, Dee is the finest left handed golfer he knows, and believe me Ron probably knows a lot of left handers, but I'm also sure he had some handsome help from the other three. But basically, lefties look at things through different eyeballs and perhaps Dee recognized something today that the rest of us normal folks (righties) wouldn't spot. Whatever the reason, very good shooting guys.

In Second was the John Strebeck team, right up their tail pipe with a 59 .

In Third was the team Jim Hawkes with a 60.

Shooting 61's was a trio of teams, the John Dierker squad, the Brian Kennedy team, and the Dan Fergus team.
