101 of us congregated at the well-hidden but well kept Fox Creek Golf Club on this day aka Cinco de Mayo. Some of us celebrated, some of us frustrated, but all of us had fun - right? Well maybe. I don't think I've played this poorly in a long time and I'd like to apologize to my teammates who had to put up with my frustrations and lousy play for all 18 holes. Sorry guys.

Part of my frustration came on our very first hole, #2, where we had to hit across the water hazard to make the green. A couple of our shots went swimming, one was short right and a fourth seemingly made it across without hitting the water altho it appeared to be headed right for a yawning sand trap to the right of the green. Do you think we could find that ball???? Nope. We searched for a minute less than eternity only to come up empty handed and were forced to take a drop and chip up to the green. Unfortunately, the hole finally caved in to a double bogey and thus the day began. We didn't see any more doubles but we might've deserved some. Just a bad all round round of golf.

To make matters less enjoyable the wind kept blowing all day, as you may have noticed, and it twaren't a warm wind either. A few more birdies during the proceedings may have warmed things up a bit but we were not up to the task and had to take what this nice layout had to offer.

And the course was in very good shape. The greens were very receptive and ran about as true as you'd like, altho they were quite quick and what seemed to be uphill at times proved just the opposite and sent our putting attempts quite a distance past their desired target . But, we did get in a lot of practice.

Results: BTW the playoff hole was #10, that downhill double dogleg to a potato chip green sloping back to front designed by someone who had a grudge against sane golfers.

In First winning outright and coming in with a world beating -9 (63) score was the Dan Edmiston, Jim Dwyer, Mark Gordon, and Joe Cernich team. Somehow these guys found lightning in a bottle and tore up this course - or did they sneak off to a putt-putt course and turn in a so-so score while the majority attempted to keep their heads above water and just score with some respectability. We'll not know for sure until someone fesses up and tells us this unbelievably low score was all a big ruse. Congrats guys on a great round - what's your secret?

In Second was the Doug Torrie team turning in an outstanding score of 65.

In Third was the Bert Schott squad with a 67.

In Fourth was the Ralph Buettner team with an enviable 68.

The Jack Eckhard team also shot a 68, but because Randy Pratt was on his team and Randy activated the button in the s/w that randomly generates the playoff hole, they lost the playoff and finished out of the top 4. See, he is human. The Roger Nikrant team finished with a 69, as did the Frank Vien team while the Art Soble squad shot a minus 2(70) to finish out the flight.

Four out of the 6 teams in this flight finished at -1(71). In First the winner in the SCP was the John Boyd team.

In Second was the Larry Edwards team.

In Third was the John Prather team.

In Fourth was the Calvin Britt team.

The Bill Heidbreder team and the Dave Kunz team both finished at level par (72), eagerly awaiting the sisterly smooch at the finish line.

Flight "C"

Two teams vied for first in this flight at +1(73) but once again the fates were with perennial winner. In First was the Larry Willman as his team must've had intimate knowledge of the computer machinations and they managed to squelch any competition in the race for first in the flight.

In Second tied with Larry's team, but falling to the vagaries of the randomly generated playoff hole was the Tim McCullen team.

In Third was the John O'toole team managed a 74.

In Fourth was the Jerry White team with a 75 .

Also with 75's but out of the running because of the playoff factor were the Jon Meyer team and the Dan Fergus team.

Flight "D"

In First, delving into the realm of a lot of practice for the day yet winning some reward for placing in the flight were the John Balog team with a 76

In Second was the Jim Zweifel team with a 77.

In Third was the Dave Buesse team with a 77.

In Fourth finally the Doug Nolte team with an astronomical 81. Mediocrity pays on occasion. This just possibly might be the highest score ever to receive monetary notoriety.

Vying for high score for the day were two teams with the Sonny Javier team nosing out the Rich Graeff team via the SCP. In this case Sonny's team did not WIN because of the SCP, but rather lost because of the SCP. Of course conversely they did win the unbelievably coveted financial reward.
