We'll have to start calling our commish lucky Larry because this was at least the second week in a row when we enjoyed wonderful weather to bring another golf course to its knees. 103 of us managed to get to Stonewolf on time to put the ball on the peg and swing away, once again hoping for that perfect drive or whatever. If you're like me you're still awaiting that perfect whatever.

The course was in great shape. We'd heard rumors before we began that the greens had suffered from some sort of malady and were barely fit to play. Fortunately, it was just a rumor and the greens were quite cooperative, if not kind on just a few occasions. Our foursome took about 5 or 6 holes to find our putting stroke but once we did we succeeded quite well in that department. No lipouts, no rim jobs, and no balls left hanging on the edge, ala Ralph Buettner on #3. Congrats on that shot Ralph.

The fairways were dandy, and quite receptive to the golf carts, fortunately. All in all it appeared the course survived the rigors of the summer. Checking weather records for the year, we're 11.55 inches of rain over normal for the year, which should bode well for all the flora next year and especially the golf courses. But when you think about it our summer hasn't really been all that bad. I don't think we had any days over 100 degrees and not exactly one continuous bout with overwhelming humidity from early July til now. Actually, a rather pleasant summer for St. Louis. I believe the only grueling outing, weather-wise, was the Legends in Eureka when we did get a lot of humidity and the temps were in the '90s.

Results: Scorecard playoff hole was #8, a not-too-long par 5 that is fairly easily birdied.
