We had one of those rare outings today where all teams were 4-man. A total of 112 players attended this upscale venue, at least 112 started. We're not sure how many finished. Yours truly was one that almost didn't finish. The heat and humidity were stifling and with virtually no breeze the discomfort level was astronomical. I think I overextended my fancy electric carrot shirt and its vaunted moisture wicking feature. I felt like a wick alright, a soaked wick at that. But being foolish, as I often am on a golf course, I pressed on and accidentally made some decent shots in a near-overheated stupor. Guess I won't learn until I'm found prone on a fairway somewhere. Perhaps a moistened towel will help, eh?

The course was in grand shape, as it was last year. I did find one baffling thing though, hole #1 was said to be 395 yards long and classed as a par 5. Another hole along the way was a 391 yard par 4, if I remember correctly. Anybody that can't make 4 yards in one stroke is probably playing the wrong kind of game. Other than that, the fairways were great, the greens great, although severely over-read by my crew at times, and the rough was quite gnarly and tough to negotiate from.

And how about those traps? I cursed Robert Trent Jones at times because I've never landed in so many traps in one round as I did today. And these traps are not small, not small by any means. I don't think my house sits on as much land as some of those babies took. And of course they're strategically placed all along the front of the greens making the approach shots difficult if you can't fly it to the hole.

Results: Oh yeah, the playoff hole (SCP for short) was #11.
