"What is so rare as a day in "June" then if ever come perfect days". So says the poet. Well, this was a day in October and it was far from perfect. With a dire threat of rain for most of the day, some folks opted to not even venture to Aberdeen and instead called in their cancellation ahead of time. Of course this causes all kinds of havoc at registration and lights a real fire under the Commish's backside as he scrambles about and has to rearrange teams to make things as equitable as possible. Thanks to all for your patience as he accomplished the near impossible before we set forth for the day.

Well, as everyone in attendance knows, things did not go smoothly during the round. For a long time it appeared we would escape the rain and then even when we got a few drops it appeared that would only be momentary - WRONG! Those drops became a torrent in short order. We made a decision to exit the course as soon as we could amidst the deluge. Most teams followed suit, but some did not. Some stayed the course, literally, and finished 18 holes and evidently did quite well over the remaining 4-5 holes. This action prompted the need for a decision on the committees part as to how to "score" the scores. Right or wrong it was decided to score the first 13 holes each team played and give them pars on the remaining 5 holes regardless if they were among the brave souls who stayed out and played the full 18 and possibly even scored non-par values on the remaining 5.

The decision was not unanimously accepted, and we knew it would not be. We always attempt to be equitable to the greatest extent and I personally feel the non-compensated committee does one heckuva a job week after week to provide the populace with a fun time on the golf course. So please remain patient with us while we stumble through some of these unexpected things tossed our way. We may learn some things from this outing and perhaps come up with some internal operating changes that will be more acceptable to a larger number of our golfers. One thought that occurred to me after the results were tallied was that we could've put the 18-hole teams in a separate flight and ranked them 1,2,3 but again hindsight is only valuable as a discussion tool for beer crying.

Anyway, for what it's worth, here are the Modified UnStable(ford) results from yesterdays tilt at Aberdeen.

Individual Awards:

Because not every team managed to play all the holes we eliminated the skins award, and none of the closest to the pin markers were collected so we eliminated that award also.
