This time we picked a darn near perfect day to play. After weeks of dodging rain and cool weather we finally landed a good one. It appeared that 2/3rds of the way through the round we'd get pounded again, but such was not the case and we all finished dry. I did hear someone say that they felt a few drops but after what we've suffered over the past few weeks a few drops are absolutely nothing. We can manage that slight inconvenience.

We wound up with 83 players after the initial sign-up of 96. One reason or another prohibited 13 guys from enjoying perhaps our best day weather-wise at what is, in my opinion, the most scenic course we play. Scenic and challenging, don't forget that. I had the pleasure of playing with one of our new members, a new member that had never played Wolf Hollow before. He couldn't say enough about the course, he absolutely loved it and said he'd come back again and again. It's a bit of a haul to get there but the price is certainly right and the course presents enough of a challenge to keep the average golfer entertained and perhaps just a bit frustrated. And, it has two lakes that provide ample targets for club throwing just in case that frustration leads to outright anger. I don't thin k any of our members would resort to that but, hey, you never know.

Winning a scorecard playoff (hole #2) with a score of 64 (-7) was the Charlie Riedisser, Don Giarraffa, George Keil, and Bill Howell team. Don was a last minute addition to the team because for some reason he'd fallen off our original pairings list and we needed another body for the Riedisser team. Don was the right body because he's a pretty accomplished golfer and I'm sure he helped this group right into the spotlight. They beat out the Bill Heidbreder, Tom Murphy, Ron Smith and Bruce Schnelle team as well as the Livingston Sykes, Randy Pratt, Phil Helm and Larry Knopfel teams, both of which also shot the -7 score.

The John Boyd team managed a 65 (-6), while the John Prather, Darryl Rue, and Ted Isringhaus teams all posted 66's (-5).

Three teams posted -4 67's but when the scorecard playoff dust settled the team of Bob Foeller, Mark Bryant, Joe Jarvis and Gene Erard came out on top, besting the Jack Reiner, Bert Schott, George Eickhoff, and Dave Buesse team which beat out the Paul Rivard, Bob Pahmeier, Tim McCullen, and Bob Eddy squad.

Also in B Flight was the Jack Eckhard team (69), the Larry Riedisser team (69), the Russ Wall team (69), the Dave Swain team (70), and the Don Schmidt team (70).

Three teams posted an even par 71 and got that extra delight out of kissing their sisters. Because of the scorecard playoff the Frank Vien, Bob Stephenson, Bob Franke, and Dave Rapp team beat out, in order, the Tom Wulf, Bob Checkley, and Jerry Mullen team, and the Ed de la Pena, Dan Fergus, Charlie Fischer, and Brian Cox team.

Bringing up the rear with an ok, but not spectacular +1 (72) for the day were three teams. And the scorecard playoff, in this case in reverse order, gave the John Ross team the "biggest effort, least reward" award for the day. Congrats John and teammates. The other two teams were the Steve Dierker team and the Doug Nolte team.
