After much gnashing of teeth, consulting meteorological experts, a few astrologic charts, a world renowned hydrologist, and even the tournament director at Sunset Hills golf course your esteemed committee decided almost at the last minute to change the location for the outing on Thursday. In spite of a desperate last minute email that we hoped would find its way to everyone's computer some folks still wound their way to Sunset Hills only to find we'd changed to Quail Creek because the Meramac River had become the Meramac swamp in the area of the golf course. Those that went there by mistake may not have received the email and that is another story. Bear with me.

Sometime between the last outing for me, the ill-fated Missouri Bluffs, and today's venture, my computer decided to give up the ghost and after purchasing a new one I had to painstakingly restore my email listing from an older listing I was somehow wise enough to back up. With a few exceptions evidently. Eventually those that I've missed will beat on me enough so that I can restore them to the email list and we'll be one big happy group again. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Initially, for this outing, we had 100 hopeful golfers signed up to play. By the time the flag dropped and we all headed to our designated tees, we were down to a precious 83 players. For those of you mathematically inclined, that's 20 foursomes and one threesome. Somewhere in the midst of the round the promised rain came, sometime in the vicinity of 11:15 or so. And this looked pretty threatening too. Lightning and thunder, often associated with storms such as this, were present. Some folks actually saw lightning although our team never witnessed it, we were just too focused on our game to be bothered by such trivial matters as lightning strikes. We were so focused we didn't even pay any attention to the high tension lines directly overhead on #4 tee as the thunder roared down on us from above. As luck would have it we survived the storm and managed to play through the 15-20 minutes of not too severe rain, never having to dodge any bolts that might've come our way. Our focus paid off as we found ourselves the first ones back to the clubhouse where we registered our score that unfortunately

In spite of the weather most of us finished. Some packed it in early, which was understandable because it did look pretty bad for a few minutes, but most stuck with it till the bitter end. Thanks to all who showed up to play on this, to say the least, confusing day.
